Fall Event Registration

Stay connected with each other and the stories and authors who inspire us. Here is the compiled list of virtual Waseca-Le Sueur Regional Library System author talks, performances, workshops, and more that are happening each month, which we will be updating daily.

These events require advance registration. We will provide technical assistance as we are able.

Ongoing

  • Sign up to receive a Mini Masterpieces Kit, and reproduce a famous painting on a tiny canvas. Geared for teens and adults. Available at all libraries. Registration filled.
  • Sign up to receive a Fairytale and Folklore Storytellers Box. Try out 7 storyteller crafts & activities sure to light up your imagination and bring to life tales uniquely your own. The kit comes in a beautiful storytellers box, with instructions, supplies, and charming extras. The Storytellers Box encourages creativity, literacy, and learning through craft and storytelling projects. Geared for ages 8+, the kit is perfect for quality family time (without all the planning). Featuring: fairy jars and doors, dragon eggs, magical leaves, washi tape fairyland, pouches, wands, and writing prompts. Need help? Register for our online help session below.   • Sign up to receive a Sticker Art Pack, where toddlers will get creative using bright colored stickers. Geared for ages 3-5. Available at all libraries.

Thursday, September 17th

  • Join Waseca Public Library staff for The Great Fall Book Preview of our new and upcoming books for adults! Panelists will present intriguing new titles and introduce you to new authors. Pro tip: attendees get to take the new books home first! (7 pm)

Saturday, September 19th

  • At our Fairytale and Folklore Storytellers Box Online Help Session, anyone who needs help completing the activities from the Fairytale and Folklore Storytellers Box can learn from our staff on how to complete the activities. Sign up for the kit above. Presented by Waseca-Le Sueur Regional Library System as part of the Fairytale and Folklore Festival. The Festival is made possible in part by funding from the Minnesota Department of Education through a Library Services and Technology Act [LS-00-19-0024-19] grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Tuesday, September 22nd

  • Reporter Joe Kimball, who has covered the Elisabeth Congdon murder case from the beginning, reveals the Secrets of the Congdon Mansion. This series is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. (7 pm)

Wednesday, October 7th

  • Tell Your Story is geared for adults with developmental disabilities, held every Wednesday in October. Join Cow Tipping Press for this innovative creative writing workshop that showcases your unique gifts and voice with the world! No experience necessary to participate. Registration required. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. (6 pm)

Thursday, October 15th

  • At Teen Book Club, share what you’ve been reading at this book lover’s meetup. Registration required. Geared for ages 13-18. (10 am)

Tuesday, October 20th

  • While the story of The Boston Massacre is familiar to generations, the personal conflicts that led to the event are not widely known. Minnesota author and historian Serena Zabin will bring to light the dramatic untold people’s history of the event that helped trigger the American Revolution. This series is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. (7 pm)

Tuesday, October 27th

  • At our Nordic Nights series, participants will learn a variety of crafting and decorating techniques in the Nordic style, taste Nordic food, decorate ginger cookies, and learn about Swedish-American holiday traditions. All supplies will be available for pickup at Waseca-Le Sueur Regional Library System libraries. Good while supplies last.This series is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Tuesday, November 17th

  • Nate Hance, will perform polkas, waltzes, and marches at Land of 10,000 Tunes: a Journey through Minnesota’s Musical Masterpieces. He’ll play iconic works by the Andrew Sisters and Judy Garland and spotlight the musical diversity of the past sixty years, from Bob Dylan to blues master Willie Murphy, from Prince to Owl City. This series is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. (7 PM)

Tuesday, December 8th

  • At Name that Town, Minnesota photographer and storyteller Doug Ohman will share the history of Minnesota towns and fun stories relating to the towns’ names. This series is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
